Pahelika: Secret Legends

Pahelika: Secret Legends

Pahelika: Secret Legends You are a decedent of the former king that wielded a powerful magical book to defeat an evil warrior king and free his kingdom long ago. The ancient magical book, Pahelika,  has become a thing of legend. The book was hidden in an ancient temple guarded by six tests to prove worthiness. You are drawn to search for this book of legend, and drawn into a magical world where you must prove yourself. Will you pass the tests and reclaim the lost book? Find out in Pahelika: Secret Legends.

Pahelika: Secret Legends
Pahelika: Secret Legends draws you in with a story of the legend, and then pulls you threw time and space to live the legend. Figure out what you need to do to accomplish your task for each level. You will be given instructions as you begin, and hints when you get stuck. There is no click penalty, so click around if you are stumped, until something happens. Solve the puzzles and move from one level to the next to prove your worthiness. For each test you will be transported to it, and must find your way home again.

Pahelika: Secret Legends is a hidden object adventure that will draw you in and not let go until you have finished! The boys weren't that interested in it, but my teenage daughter and I were very intrigued. The story is told aloud by the character, but the level screens are not. There were times when I was not certain what to do next, but you can click around until you figure it out or go find help at the BFG blog walkthrough. Pahelika: Secret Legends is quite an adventure.

Hidden Mysteries: Civil War

Hidden Mysteries: Civil War

Hidden Mysteries: Civil War

Hidden Mysteries: Civil War Go back in time to the Civil War. Visit each battle scene in the year they happened and follow the war as it actually took place. At each battle scene search for hidden objects to reveal secret letters and other clues. Relive the personal defeats and triumphs of three key figures from the Civil War. See the victorious flag wave over each battle scene you complete in  Hidden Mysteries: Civil War.

Hidden Mysteries: Civil War gives you a glimpse into history. You will visit the battles of the Civil War one year at a time. At each battle scene you will be given a list of objects that you must find. Notes and letters open when found to allow you to read the historical content. Several of them must be decoded before you can read them. You are always given three hints at the beginning of each year, and you may earn more at any time from the map screen. You must defeat a "minesweeper" type board to earn each additional hint. Play in timed or relaxed mode.

We loved Hidden Mysteries: Civil War! The main screen is a map of the states involved in the Civil War and a year at the top. Each battle for that year is marked at its location by its name and an object that represents the area. After you have completed a scene the flag of the victorious forces waves above the location. The boys loved looking through the scenes and seeing the flags when we were done. Hidden Mysteries: Civil War is an excellent way to spice up your knowledge of the Civil War! A must have for all families!

Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition

Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition

Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition
Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition is a Big Fish Games Exclusive. Abagail Andrews has just been hired by a well known fashion magazine to help the editor. Use your trend sighting skills to help the struggling magazine get noticed by spotting every kind of trend! With Fashion week as your deadline, will you be able to get the magazine revitalized and turn it back into a must read in time? Find out how well you can spot the fashion trends in Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition.

Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition calls on both your fashion sense, and your keen eyesight to spot all the latest trends. Your blackberry is always handy at your side to remind you what to look for and give you a hint of where to look. Hints need time to recharge, but are free to use. Search various locations around NYC to find your list of trend setting items, and grab pictures of them. Check out how your pictures are being used in the layouts in between any levels. Choose to play in timed or untimed mode.

Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition was an easy hidden object game. You were given a specific number of items to find, or a list of various items to look for, and then given more than ample time to find them. The rechargeable hint was nice, but not needed. The boys were not at all interested in  Fashion Finder: Secrets of Fashion NYC Edition. It was a diversion to look through Abby's bio, but did not add anything to the game. The layouts were decent, but only something to look at, and had n bearing on game play. I felt more like I was playing spot the sponsor than a good hidden object game.

Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer

Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer

Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer
Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer  Solve the case before the movie is even released, or can you? As an investigator in the NYPD hunt for clues at crime scenes, investigate the evidence, and work through forensic lab mini games to examine your findings. See if you can decide who to trust, and figure out who the poet killer is before he murders again. Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer is being released in theaters on June 6th.

Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer will call up your skills and keen eyes to solve the mystery of a series of murders. Collect evidence from the scenes using the evidence list on your phone, which will also show you the shape of the objects you are seeking. Call on a nearby badge to help you out if you are stuck. Help out in the forensic lab, and elsewhere in the department as needed. Mini games will have you assembling suspect sketches, matching DNA samples, and more. Will you be able to unravel the identity of the poet killer?

The boys were slightly interested in
Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer, but only in finding the hidden objects. Since we are not into this type of movie, the attraction to this game was only minimal.  Righteous Kill 2: Revenge of the Poet Killer had a decent story line, well done scenes, and I assume the cut scenes were from the movie. The hidden objects levels and mini games were fun to play.

Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies
Your brain is being sought after by zombies in Plants vs. Zombies; luckily you control an arsenal of plants to come to your defense. Defend your home by turning your front lawn into a garden of defense. Plant pea shooters, potato bombs, and cherry bombs during the day, and fill your nights with puff-shrooms! Overcome obstacles such as a swimming pool, creeping fog, and tombstones in your yard. Use your green thumb to fend off the onslaught of zombies as you protect your brains in  Plants vs. Zombies.

Who would have thought that you could use plants to defend your house and yourself from zombies?! This is exactly what you get to do in Plants vs. Zombies. As you survive each wave of zombies, they leave something for you...most of the time it is a useful plant seed to add to your arsenal. Choose you favorite plants before each round to defend yourself. Collect suns to buy more plants during play. (Hint: plant sunflowers who produce suns to buy seeds faster!) Each plant has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each zombie does too. Watch for their patterns, and position your plants accordingly!

I thought I would hate Plants vs. Zombies since it is filled with "zombies and killing", but I really enjoyed playing it. The storyline of zombies did not appeal to me, but the boys didn't seem to mind it, and they loved the various plants that you could buy, and what each of them did. Their favorite? The venus flytrap type plant that ate the zombies, of course! Personally, I loved the walnuts and the sunflowers... but neither of them were for destroying the zombies! I was having such fun with Plants vs. Zombies' addictive game play that I did not even want to stop long enough to write this review! Back to my arsenal of plants!

The boys had fun exploring the rooms with me. This is not a game for younger children, but it is family friendly. Your time management skills will be needed in this match three game. Asami's Sushi Shop has you learning new sushi recipes, and serving them up to your customers. Powerful dragon tokens appear for matches of four or more. Use these to clear an entire row or column, and serve your customers even faster. The faster you serve them the better the tip. Use the tips at the end of each level to purchase items for the store to improve the customers patience or generosity. Replay any level for a chance at even more in tips. Play in timed or untimed mode, or go in for free play, and just have some fun!

The boys couldn't get enough of Asami's Sushi Shop. We loved the background music, and the diverse characters. When the customers finished their meals and left, they each said, "Xie xie." My 6 year old started bouncing when he heard it, and exclaiming, "They are saying thank you!"  Asami's Sushi Shop was a lot of fun, and the timed version kept things moving along fast enough for me to enjoy the game! The boys love the untimed setting, as they love watching all the customers! This is a family friendly game everyone can enjoy!

As Jess, you work with the stranger who is using tarot cards to access your forgotten memories of the last few weeks. Jess' parents went missing, and it is your search to find them that you have blocked. Use 3 Cards to Midnight to trigger the memories, find the hidden objects, and solve the puzzle that has become your life.

Revealing three tarot cards at a time, use them to  trigger memories of locations and keywords. Find the hidden objects that are based on the keywords at each location. 3 Cards to Midnight is full of clever hidden object play, and challenging puzzles to riddle out.  Hints are given to you at each location, as well as the ability to earn more. Puzzles can be solved or skipped. You can choose to play at three different levels of difficulties to suit your personal style, or replay with more of a challenge!

3 Cards to Midnight has a clever storyline, and a wonderful twist on finding hidden objects. you need to find objects that go with the keyword(s). The boys were fascinated by the cut scenes, but we all agreed the poor character looked like she was on drugs, and the story was scary. The levels were well done and friendly enough. I liked the ability to skip the puzzles. Although they were4e fun, it can be frustrating to get stuck, and being able to skip through it can be a benefit. We would not label 3 Cards to Midnight as a family game, it was definitely for older audiences.

3 Days: Zoo Mystery has clever scenes to be worked through, with a variety of mini games to be solved as you work through each level. The boys were slightly intrigued, as with any hidden object game, but were not drawn in enough to stick around. The story line of 3 Days: Zoo Mystery is decent, and the scenes were cleverly done. The mini games were not overly hard, but enough of a challenge to add to the game play. Overall a great game, we have just had our share of computer games lately! The are kind of like tv right now...
